This is the NUMBER 1 exercise I suggest for managing or preventing back pain. Toning your pelvic floor is important for a ton of reasons - not only does it improve bladder and bowel control, assist recovery from childbirth, and increases sexual sensation, but it is FANTASTIC for protecting your back.
One of the most important things you can do for your back is to train your other muscles (like the pelvic floor, glutes, and multifidus) to load weight so your back doesn't have to.
